Join John Spencer in Supporting Bridging Bionics' Athletes!
Hi,
My name is John Spencer and I suffered a spinal cord injury after a neck surgery in January of 2015. When I was in recovery after surgery, the surgeon came in and told me there was a complication with surgery and he was unsure if I would be a quadriplegic or a paraplegic. I told him I refused to accept that diagnosis and I will walk and ski again. 8 years later, I have skied and now I am able to walk with two canes instead of using a wheelchair. I realize that although I can walk, I will never walk without an assistive device again and maintaining mobility would be my biggest challenge. BBF has given me just that, the gift of mobility.
Each day when I come to therapy, the physical therapists I work with make my day. If I have something that is bothering me, I tell Maria and then we work together as a team to figure it out. The therapists light my fire for life!! Since I have been with the program since almost the start, one of my favorite memories is when the program gets a new robot or piece of technology. With each new robot, I have gotten to be one of the first individuals to try them out and work with the physical therapists during their trainings. They have made so many minor adjustments over the years to fit and work with my condition. I feel truly blessed to be a part of this program from the ground up.
For this reason, I wanted to pay it forward by helping fundraise for their '23 Bridging Mobility Campaign. I am asking for your support to help me raise my personal goal of $500. With 64% of the athletes that Bridging Bionics serves needing financial assistance, donations will go directly towards scholarships that will cover their annual $500 program fee. Overall, by mobilizing together, we hope to raise a total of $20,000 for this cause and any amount of donation counts!
By becoming a donor, you will be giving the gift of mobility to all Bridging Bionics' athletes and will ensure everyone has access to a healthier, physically active, socially connected and fulfilling life!
I Appreciate Your Help,
John
